A 46-year-old man was arrested after a woman was stabbed multiple times during a domestic violence incident in southeast Fresno, police said.
Officers responded about 9:38 p.m. Saturday to the area of Lane and Willow avenues after receiving a report of a possible stabbing, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police found a woman with multiple wounds to the left side of her body. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The woman told officers that she and Tyrone Cheeks, 46, were in an intimate relationship and had met near Lane and Willow avenues before they began arguing.
Police said the argument escalated into a physical confrontation. During the confrontation, another person approached the woman and told her she was bleeding. The woman then realized she had been stabbed multiple times, police said.
Cheeks fled, and the woman called 911, according to police.
About 2:37 a.m. Sunday, officers received an automated license plate reader alert indicating a vehicle associated with Cheeks was in the Southeast Policing District.
Officers located the vehicle near Kings Canyon and Winery avenues and waited until it exited a nearby drive-thru before conducting a felony traffic stop.
Cheeks was inside the vehicle and was arrested without incident, police said.
He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of a laceration to his right hand before being booked into the Fresno County Jail.
