A 21-year-old Sacramento man is wanted on suspicion of murder after a security guard was fatally shot Saturday night at a private event at the Los Banos Fairgrounds, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the fairgrounds about 11:12 p.m. following a report of a shooting and found Kody Pena, 31, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Pena, who was working as a security guard, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s detectives identified the suspect as Gabriel Angel Salas, 21, of Sacramento.

Authorities said Salas is believed to be in the West Sacramento area and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Sheriff’s Office advised anyone who sees him not to approach and to call 911.

Salas is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build, hazel eyes and long black hair.
