A 29-year-old man accused of firing multiple shots into a Fresno residence last month after breaking a front window surrendered to authorities Tuesday and was booked into the Fresno County Jail, according to Fresno police.

Police said the shooting happened July 5 at about 1:50 p.m. while two victims were inside their residence.

Investigators said Darreon Lavender arrived at the home and shattered the front glass window with an unknown object. After breaking the window, Lavender allegedly pointed a firearm at the two victims and fired three to four shots into the residence in an attempt to wound them, police said.

One of the victims identified the gunman as her ex-boyfriend, according to police.

After interviewing those involved and reviewing evidence, investigators determined Lavender was in violation of the charges filed in the case, police said.

On Tuesday at about 12:56 p.m., Lavender walked into the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office main lobby and turned himself in, according to police. Detectives took him into custody, and he was booked into the Fresno County Jail.

According to Fresno County Jail records, Lavender is being held on suspicion of attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, using a firearm, vandalism, and assault with a firearm.
