A wildfire near the Grapevine prompted an evacuation warning Wednesday morning after growing to 30 acres, according to incident officials.

The Buzzard Fire was reported at 8:29 a.m. about 1.5 miles south of mile marker 8 near Lebec. The cause is under investigation.

An incident update posted at 8:30 a.m. said the fire had reached 30 acres and that an evacuation warning had been issued for evacuation zone KRN-535.

Officials said the warning indicates a potential threat to life and property. People who may need additional time to evacuate, as well as those with pets or livestock, were advised to leave now.

CalFire is now reporting that the Kern County Buzzard Fire has grown to 180 acres.
