A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck Wednesday evening on Highway 41 in Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded around 5 p.m. to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on northbound Highway 41 near Divisadero Street.
A preliminary investigation found that an unidentified adult man was walking east across the northbound lanes of the highway when he entered the path of a northbound Dodge pickup truck traveling in the middle lane.
The driver, a 37-year-old Fowler man, was unable to avoid the pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
Northbound Highway 41 was closed for about two hours while officers investigated.
The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin.
