Delano Police Department Officer Galvan purchased a replacement bicycle for a resident whose bike was stolen earlier this month, following an investigation that identified a suspect using home security video.

According to the Delano Police Department, officers responded after a bicycle was taken from the front door area of a residence. Surveillance footage from a home security camera helped investigators identify the person believed to be responsible.

After officers located and contacted the suspect, they learned the stolen bicycle had been discarded and could not be recovered.

In response, Officer Galvan chose to buy a replacement bicycle for the victim. Before handing it over, the officer tested the bike with a ride around a parking lot to ensure it was working properly.

The department highlighted the gesture as an example of community service beyond law enforcement duties, saying acts of kindness like it reflect efforts to help neighbors in need.
