Benjamin Netanyahu argued that moral authority alone is insufficient in war, invoking a stark historical comparison during his first English-language press conference since fighting with Iran began, The Times of Israel reported.
Citing historian Will Durant, Netanyahu said “Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan,” contending that power ultimately determines outcomes in global conflicts. He framed the remark as a warning that democracies must act decisively against threats.
Netanyahu said Israel and the United States were working together to counter Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, describing the campaign as necessary to prevent future danger. He warned that failing to act would allow adversaries to grow stronger.
The comments came as Netanyahu emphasized strength and deterrence, saying nations must be “more powerful than the barbarians” to avoid destruction, while defending the ongoing military campaign as essential to protecting global security.
