Firefighters responded to a smoke-filled church in northwest Fresno after a fire alarm was activated, only to discover the source was a fog machine left running, officials said.

The Fresno Fire Department said crews were called to Northpointe Church on Wednesday night after receiving notification of the alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters found the building filled with smoke but no active flames.

Officials determined the smoke was caused by a fog machine that had been accidentally left on, triggering the alarm system.

Firefighters requested a Mobile Ventilation Unit, a large vehicle-mounted fan, to clear the haze and restore normal conditions inside the building.

No injuries or damage were reported, and officials said the incident did not pose an active emergency.
