A man has been arrested in connection with a gang-related stabbing that left a victim seriously injured in January, authorities said.

Officers with the Sanger Police Department were dispatched Jan. 25 to the 200 block of Academy Avenue for a report of a shots-fired disturbance. While responding, police received another call regarding a stabbing, and a short time later, a stabbing victim was dropped off at the Sanger Fire Department.

Investigators determined the disturbance was gang-related. The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Detectives working with the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium conducted follow-up investigations and identified Jesus Antonio Aguilar as the suspect responsible for the stabbing.

Aguilar was taken into custody Monday in Fresno.
