Officers responded at approximately 6:30 p.m. to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Pelandale Avenue just west of Prescott Road.

Preliminary information indicates the adult female pedestrian was walking northbound along the canal and attempted to cross Pelandale Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound in the number one lane. She did not survive her injuries.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Both the driver and the pedestrian are from Modesto. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
