One of the country’s fastest growing coffee chains has its eyes set on Visalia.
Two business proposals have been filed with the city for 7 Brew coffee.
The Business Journal first reported this story.
The first proposal would land the Arkansas-based drive-thru at 2800 N. Dinuba Blvd., just south of Riggin Avenue at Road 124, near the Arco Gas Station. Putting that plan forward is Javier Gomez, who also F & M Restaurants, Inc., the franchisee for Rally’s and Checker’s.
On the other side of town, a separate proposal calls for the demolition of the former Cask & Cleaver building at 3627 S. Mooney Blvd., near the Dick’s Sporting Goods.
A state business filing lists the owner of that shopping center, Dave Paynter, as the applicant.
Attempts to reach Gomez were unsuccessful, and according to city records, both plans are in the approval process.
Blackstone Investment Revved Up Expansion
Founded in 2017, 7 Brew has grown dramatically in the years since. The company started with seven original drinks but now boasts more than 20,000 combinations. Prefabricated 500-square-foot stores help speed up rollout.
The company made national news in 2024 by obtaining a major investment from private equity colossus Blackstone. The goal, according to Blackstone, was to “help enable 7 Brew to accelerate its already-rapid expansion across the U.S.,” a news release stated. When Blackstone first invested, it had 190 locations. Business Wire reported in December 2025 that it now has more than 600 locations.
At the time, 7 Brew CEO John Davidson said Blackstone’s market knowledge and relationships would help accelerate expansion.
“We are on a strong growth trajectory thanks to our outstanding team, the Brew Crew, and are so excited to have found in Blackstone a true partner who understands our culture and whose global reach and incredible resources will enable us to reach this next stage of growth,” Davidson said in a news release.
Blackstone purchased many of its shares from Jimmy John’s Sandwiches founder Jimmy John Liautaud.
In 2025, private equity firm Franchise Equity Partners announced becoming a major stakeholder in 7 Crew, the company’s second-largest franchisee. The firm said it planned to open 200 new locations across Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
“We try and keep our pulse on emerging brands within the (quick-service restaurant) space, and we’ve been very strategic and deliberate about staying on top of that and monitoring the trends,” said David O’Donnell, head of investments with Franchise Equity.
