The Merced County Sheriff’s SWAT team arrested a Planada man during a search Friday tied to a Jan. 8 shooting.

Juan Ceja Prado, 32, was booked on multiple charges, including shooting at an occupied vehicle, possession of an assault weapon, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a high-capacity magazine, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives said the warrant executed Friday uncovered ammunition, an unserialized rifle with a high-capacity magazine, and an unregistered pistol.

Two other suspects had been arrested shortly after abandoning a vehicle involved in the initial shooting, which was found containing several firearms.
