A woman was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run in Visalia, the Visalia Police Department said in a statement.

Just after midnight, Visalia police officers responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian near Giddings Street and Howard Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the woman lying in the roadway. She was transported to Kaweah Health, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver involved fled the scene. The Visalia Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating and is asking anyone with information to call (559) 713-4175.
