More Than a Million Users Report Issues With Verizon, Downdetector Shows

Verizon experienced an outage Wednesday, with hundreds of thousands reporting issues, according to Downdetector.com.

More than 225,000 users had reported problems as of 9:55 a.m. PT, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources.

Most users reporting issues say they’re experiencing problems with mobile phone connection.

Verizon experienced a nationwide wireless outage in late 2024 that affected more than 100,000 users at its peak, drawing attention from the Federal Communications Commission after multiple services were disrupted and iPhone users reported being stuck in “SOS” mode, Reuters reported.

Verizon posted a response to the Wednesday outage on their X account saying, “We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”

Downdetector reports that more than 1 million users have submitted outage reports about Verizon as of 11:30 a.m.

Update at 10:16 a.m.

More than 500,000 users have now reported issues with the service.

Update at 10:21 a.m.

Nearly 540,000 Verizon users have now reported an issue to Downdetector.

Update at 10:26 a.m.

Nearly 575,000 users have now reported an issue with Verizon to Downdetector.

Update at 10:31 a.m.

More than 640,000 users have reported issues to Downdetector, though the site indicates reports are starting to slow.

Update at 10:36 a.m.

More than 670,000 users have now reported an issues with Verizon.

Verizon posted a response to the outage on their X account saying, “We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and are working to identify and solve the issue quickly. We understand how important reliable connectivity is and apologize for the inconvenience.”

Verizon now shows a total of more than 700,000 users reported an issue to Downdetector.

More than 760,000 users have now reported an issue with Verizon.

More than 800,000 users have now reported an issue with Verizon.

Update at 11:02 a.m.

More than 840,000 users have reported an issue with Verizon to Downdetector.

Nearly 900,000 users have reported an issue to Downdetector about Verizon.

More than 968,000 users have now reported an issue about Verizon to Downdetector.
