The California Highway Patrol in Merced responded to a traffic crash in Winton involving an impaired driver, the agency said Wednesday.

CHP said that no one was seriously injured in the crash and they did not identify the suspect.

CHP officials emphasized that driving under the influence slows reaction times and distorts judgment, turning routine commutes into potentially life-altering emergencies.

Officers said impaired driving crashes can cause lifelong injuries, damage careers, and leave families with lasting losses.

Authorities urged the public to report unsafe drivers, noting that while officers are limited in number, community members can help prevent crashes.
