Three suspects, including an 18-year-old man and two juveniles, were arrested after an armed carjacking and violent assault reported early Tuesday in Porterville, police said.
Porterville Police Department officers responded at about 2:15 a.m. to the 22300 block of Avenue 152 after a report of an armed carjacking.
The victim told officers they were violently assaulted by three armed suspects, who then took the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.
Later that day, the stolen vehicle was located in the city of Lindsay. With assistance from Lindsay police officers, all three suspects were located and taken into custody. Firearms used in the crime were also recovered during the investigation, police said.
The suspects were identified as Anthony Aguilar, 18, of Porterville, and two juvenile suspects, ages 15 and 14, whose identities were not released.
Aguilar was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s South County Detention Facility on charges of carjacking, armed robbery, elder abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a felony and participation in a criminal street gang.
He is being held in lieu of $130,000 bail. The juvenile suspects were booked into the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility on the same charges.
