Clovis police will have additional officers on patrol Friday targeting drivers suspected of operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the department said in a statement.
“Celebrating this holiday season responsibly is about protecting not just yourself but everyone on the road,” said Corporal Mark Bradford. “Let’s work together to make this holiday memorable for all the right reasons. Make a plan for a safe ride home.”
Authorities encouraged drivers to designate a sober driver, use ride-share services, look out for others, and report suspected impaired drivers.
Officials noted that impairment can result not only from alcohol but also from prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, cannabis, and other substances.
The DUI saturation patrol is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
