Fresno Man Killed in Auberry Identified

Authorities have identified the man killed in Auberry last week as 43-year-old Joie Carrell of Fresno.

Fresno County sheriff’s dispatchers received a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound around 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14. Deputies initially searched the area but were unable to locate the victim.

A California Highway Patrol officer assisting on the call found Carrell injured along Old Auberry Road, just north of Auberry Road, around 12:20 p.m. He was later pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to investigate. Authorities have not released specific details about Carrell’s injuries, which are consistent with a homicide.

Investigators are working to identify a suspect and determine a motive.
