Drunk Driver Arrested After Fatal Madera Pedestrian Crash

A 25-year-old man was killed late Monday after being struck by a vehicle near Yosemite Avenue and Elm Street in Madera, police said.

Officers responded to the scene and found the man had been hit by an eastbound vehicle.

He died from his injuries at the scene, according to the Madera Police Department.

The driver, identified as Paulino Vasquez, 57, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
