A juvenile riding a bicycle was struck by a car Wednesday evening at Herndon and Palm avenues, Fresno police said.
The call came in at 5:16 p.m. after the juvenile was hit while changing lanes, according to police.
Police said the juvenile, the bike, and the car were all unharmed. No crime was reported and both parties exchanged information at the scene.
The incident comes amid heightened attention to bicycle and pedestrian safety in Fresno following a fatal crash killed 15-year-old Nathan Torres, a McLane High School student who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on Olive Avenue.
Fresno police have carried out several safety operations this year targeting drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. On Sept. 20, officers cited 186 people during a citywide operation.
Of those, 132 were drivers cited for violations such as failing to yield, unsafe speed, and using a handheld device. Meanwhile, 54 pedestrians and bicyclists were cited for various infractions.
The department offers guidance for all road users, urging pedestrians to be visible and use crosswalks, drivers to slow down and avoid distractions, and bicyclists to follow traffic laws, use hand signals and ride with lights at night.
