PG&E website is reporting that most customers affected by the outage have had their power restored. It also shows 214 customers remain without electricity between Millbrook and Cedar avenues near Teague Avenue.

Original Story

A power surge left thousands of customers in northeast Fresno without electricity Monday afternoon, according to PG&E’s website.

The unplanned outage was reported at 2:24 p.m. and affected about 3,011 customers, the website says.

Crews were evaluating the electrical system to identify damaged sections, according to PG&E.

PG&E did not respond with an immediate request for comment.

PG&E’s website stated that the power is estimated to be restored at 5:45 p.m.

A vehicle collision at 11th Street and Teague Avenue knocked down a power line, though authorities could not confirm it caused a local outage, the Fresno Police Department said.

Police said no one was injured in the crash. The driver told officers she lost control of her vehicle while trying to avoid another car and struck the power pole.

She tested negative for DUI but had two outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrants and was cited for them.
