Chilean President Gabriel Boric called on Tuesday for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others accused of committing genocide in Gaza to face an international court, framing the conflict as a “crisis of humanity” rather than a political dispute, the Eastern Herald reported.
“I do not want to see Netanyahu destroyed by a missile with his family,” Boric told the United Nations General Assembly. “I want to see Netanyahu and those responsible for the genocide against the Palestinian people facing an international court of justice.”
Boric’s appeal comes as the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry said Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, a finding Jerusalem rejects.
Chile’s leader emphasized judicial accountability over retribution, echoing ongoing International Criminal Court warrants against Netanyahu and former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant.
Boric’s speech also highlighted Chile’s deep Palestinian diaspora and the country’s ongoing efforts to pressure Israel through diplomacy, sanctions, and support for international legal mechanisms.
