The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Victor Reyes Jr. 28, of Reedley.
Original Story
A 28-year-old man from Reedley was killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash west of Navalencia Avenue, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 8:35 a.m. on American Avenue when the man’s 2016 Acura TLX veered into the path of an eastbound 2022 Ram Thor camper van.
The front of the Acura collided head-on with the camper van, causing the Acura to spin and stop on the south shoulder while the camper van came to rest in the eastbound lane, CHP said.
The Acura’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the camper van, a 62-year-old man from Manhattan Beach, sustained moderate injuries.
A 62-year-old female passenger, who was asleep in the back of the camper and not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown forward. Her condition was not immediately known.
Both drivers were properly restrained, and investigators said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.
