The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office lifted all evacuation orders and warnings Friday at 11 a.m. for areas affected by the Salt 14-2 Fire in western Fresno County, south of Coalinga, allowing residents to return to their homes.
The wildfire, which started Sept. 2 near Jacalitos Creek Road, burned 25,580 acres across Fresno and Monterey counties before reaching full containment, CalFire reported Friday morning.
Authorities warned that smoldering materials and other hazards remain and urged drivers to reduce speeds and be cautious of firefighting equipment still operating in the area. Residents are advised to report any dangerous situations to law enforcement immediately.
The fire has 899 personnel, 38 engines, 34 water tenders, 11 dozers, 19 hand crews, and multiple firefighting aircraft working on the scene.
Road closures remain in place on Parkfield Grade at State Route 198 and Jacalitos Creek Road at West Lost Hills Road, with limited access on South Merced Avenue at Lucille Avenue.
CalFire continues to investigate the cause of the fire. Officials noted that a warming and drying trend is expected through the weekend.
