The Salt 14-2 Fire, which began Sept. 2 near Jacalitos Creek Road in Coalinga, has burned 25,580 acres across Fresno and Monterey counties and remains 35% contained, officials said Monday morning.
CalFire, along with the Fresno and Monterey County sheriffs, are managing the wildfire under a unified command. Four structures are threatened, and no civilian or firefighter fatalities have been reported.
Firefighters continue to establish and strengthen control lines, conduct mop-up, and patrol the fire perimeter as a cooling trend brings highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s and moderate humidity. Winds are expected to increase later in the day, officials said.
Evacuation Orders, Warnings, and Road Closures
Evacuation orders remain in effect for zones P18B, P24B2, P25, P27A, P28, and MRY-G041-A, while warnings have been issued for zones P18A, P24B1, P27B, and MRY-G041-B.
Several roads, including Parkfield Grade at State Route 198 and Jacalitos Creek Road at West Lost Hills Road, are fully closed. Other roads remain open to residents only.

The firefighting effort includes 94 engines, 45 water tenders, 11 helicopters, 49 dozers, 40 hand crews, and 1 additional resource, with a total of 1,679 personnel assigned. Numerous air tankers from across the state are also assisting with fire suppression missions.
The cause of the Salt 14-2 Fire remains under investigation.
