Fresno police arrested 11 people on Saturday through a DUI enforcement operation.

Police held the checkpoint at Cedar and Gettysburg avenues from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Officer also issued 23 citations for either operating a vehicle without a license or driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Police stopped 406 vehicles in total.

The department bases checkpoint locations on reported incidents of crashes because of impaired driving.

First-time DUI charges carry an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license, officials said.
