At a $1 million-a-plate fundraiser at his New Jersey golf club, President Donald Trump hinted he might reclassify marijuana, moving it from Schedule I to Schedule III, Fox Business reported.

Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers, urged the change to expand medical research and boost the industry.

Schedule I drugs include heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

Schedule III drugs are defined as those with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence. They include Tylenol with codeine, ketamine, anabolic steroids, and testosterone.

Cannabis companies have funneled millions into Trump’s political groups, fueling speculation about reclassification.

If enacted, the move would make buying and selling cannabis far easier and more profitable.

While the Biden administration had considered similar steps, no laws were passed.

With 40 states allowing medical use and 24 recreationally, Trump’s potential decision could reshape the national marijuana landscape.
