A former correctional officer at the Central California Women’s Facility in Madera was sentenced Thursday to 224 years in prison for sexually assaulting nine female inmates, the Madera County District Attorney’s Office said.

Greg Rodriguez was convicted by a Madera County jury on 64 counts of sexual assault, the office said in January.

The crimes involved multiple victims and spanned numerous incidents while Rodriguez was employed at the prison.

Prosecutors had previously said Rodriguez faced more than 70 years in state prison.
