Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If you’re more into giving scares than receiving them, a role in Fresno’s new Halloween haunted house may be for you.

Fresno Fright Nights is holding auditions for cast members Saturday and Sunday at the Island Waterpark from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m, according to a news release from the organization.

Additional casting calls are scheduled for Aug. 17 and Aug. 24.

What You Need

Prospective participants should come in costume with makeup and with props, and anything else they may need to show off their growls, scowls, and intimidating personalities.

The company has hired film director Michael Rodriguez to lead the acting, makeup, and costume design teams for the show, which runs Oct. 3-Nov. 1.

Rodriguez directed “Lake of Shadows,” “Last American Horror Show,” “Lamb Feed,” and “Daisy” — the last of which was an official selection at the Shock Stock Horror & Underground Film Festival.

Four Different Settings for Actors to Find Their Niche

Fresno Fright Nights attraction will span six acres at Island Waterpark. It will have sites such as an abandoned chemical plant, a blood swamp, a haunted cemetery, and the lair of Fresno’s favorite homegrown cryptid, the Fresno Night Crawler.

Professional designer and haunted house expert Allen Hopps is crafting the scenes.

A view inside one of the apartments in the residential building that was partly destroyed by a Russian missile the night of July 31 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Aug. 4, 2025. Veronika Osintseva went to sleep in her bed on the ninth floor of an apartment building in Kyiv and woke up on a pile of rubble outside. She saw her leg covered in blood and cried out for help, thinking only of the pain, she would later say, and not how she had survived. (Oksana Parafeniuk/The New York Times)
