The California Highway Patrol in Visalia arrested five individuals on suspicion of driving under the influence during a weekend DUI checkpoint operation, officials said Monday.

According to CHP, more than 750 vehicles were screened during the enforcement effort, which was aimed at deterring impaired driving and promoting road safety.

“These checkpoints are a vital tool in preventing impaired driving and saving lives,” the agency said in a statement.
