A wildfire burning near Pine Flat Lake has scorched 426 acres and remains just 5% contained as of Monday, according to CalFire.

Dubbed the Max Fire, the blaze was first reported shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday in the Blue Canyon area, near Big Creek Road and Vomac Road, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause is under investigation.

Evacuation orders remain in effect for zone K61, which includes residents in the immediate area.

CalFire, the Fresno County Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service-Sierra National Forest are leading the suppression efforts.

Officials say the fire is moving in a northeast direction.

Residents can track the fire’s progress and find an evacuation zone map online at CalFire’s incident page and evacuation map viewer.
