A man is in custody after a stabbing left another man critically injured in northeast Fresno earlier this week, police said.

Officers responded to Saint Agnes Medical Center at 5:15 a.m. Monday after a victim arrived with multiple stab wounds.

Investigators learned the victim had been asleep in a parked vehicle near Gettysburg and First avenues when a man knocked on the window and woke him.

A confrontation followed, during which the suspect pulled out an 8-inch knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

Detectives later identified the suspect as Joshua White.

On Tuesday, surveillance efforts led to White’s arrest in Fairmead in Madera County.

He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
