A stolen vehicle investigation led authorities to a suspected chop shop operation in Ivanhoe, where a man was arrested following a one-hour standoff, the Visalia Police Department said in a statement.

Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Tulare County Regional Auto Theft Task Force located a red 2020 Hyundai Elantra that had been reported stolen in a residential burglary in Visalia.

The car was found parked in the driveway of a home on the 15600 block of Beechwood Avenue in Ivanhoe.

While officers were investigating, Stephen Glispey, 43, was seen riding an unregistered dirt bike onto the property.

Officers served a search warrant and Glispey exited the home without incident following a one-hour standoff.

Investigators confirmed the Hyundai was stolen and had multiple parts removed, indicating the property was being used as a chop shop, police said.

Officers also recovered a confirmed stolen dirt bike and another suspected stolen dirt bike with its VIN number removed.

Glispey was arrested on charges including vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, operating a chop shop, and prior felony theft.

Police said he also had an outstanding felony warrant related to firearms offenses.
