A Madera driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a streetlight, the Madera Police Department said Wednesday.

Officers responded to the 600 block of South Gateway Drive for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

Miguel Moreno was found at the scene and admitted to being the driver of the damaged vehicle.

Police said he was extremely intoxicated.

No one was injured in the crash.

Authorities noted the only damage was to a streetlight.

The agency said DUI offenses are taken seriously, and those arrested face jail time and heavy fines upon conviction.
