A structure fire in Coarsegold has spread to nearby vegetation in the area of Road 415 and City View Drive, prompting emergency responders to implement a hard road closure on Road 415 between Road 416 and Highway 41, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.

The road is currently closed to all traffic, with roadblocks in place, authorities said.

The blaze, named the Pickup Fire, ignited at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday and has burned 10 acres with zero percent containment, according to CalFire.

Evacuation Information

Madera County officials have issued an evacuation warning for zones MAD-E0573 and MAD-0569.

Zone MAD-E577 is under a fire advisory.

Residents in affected zones are urged to prepare to evacuate and leave immediately if they feel threatened.

Those who require additional time or have pets and livestock are strongly advised to evacuate now.

For evacuation assistance, residents can contact (559) 675-7770, and for emergencies, dial 911.

Due to smoke and limited visibility, drivers are urged to use caution and plan alternate routes. Madera County Sheriff’s Office recommends residents “Know Your Zone” to stay informed about potential evacuation orders.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts through www.mcalert.org or by texting their ZIP code to 888777 for real-time updates.

Madera authorities said that the American Red Cross will be setting up a temporary evacuation point at the Community Center of Oakhurst (39800 Road 425B in Oakhurst). The evacuation point will open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
