Fresno police arrested a man in connection with two separate shootings, including one that left two people hospitalized and another that led to the recovery of a semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.
The first shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. April 11 near Ashlan and Chestnut avenues.
Officers from the Northeast Policing District responded to reports of shots fired and found two victims at the scene.
Both were given medical aid and transported to Community Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
A third unidentified shooting victim fled before officers arrived and was never located, police said.
Police also discovered that two apartments had been struck multiple times by gunfire. A protective sweep determined no additional injuries.
Investigators learned a party was taking place at one of the apartments when two unknown suspects opened fire for reasons still under investigation.
Detectives later identified Jershawn Worthy as the alleged shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 6 at 9:39 p.m., Southeast District officers responded to reports of gunfire near Sierra Vista and Turner avenues.
They found an unoccupied vehicle with spent shell casings and live rounds nearby. Witnesses reported seeing a man flee from the scene, later identified as Worthy.
Detectives served a search warrant at Worthy’s residence and recovered a semi-automatic firearm equipped with an extended magazine.
He was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges, including willful discharge of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded and concealed firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
