A wanted fugitive accused of domestic violence and drug offenses was arrested in Chowchilla after being found hiding in an attic, authorities said.
Madera County sheriff’s deputies arrested Gary White, 42, on Thursday after serving a search warrant at a home in Chowchilla.
White was wanted on two felony warrants related to domestic violence, vandalism, and narcotics charges, officials said.
White reportedly fled law enforcement after crashing his vehicle and escaping on foot in a previous incident.
Deputies and detectives with the Madera County Special Enforcement Team launched an investigation to track him down.
When deputies didn’t initially find White inside the home, they deployed a drone to search the attic. There, White was discovered hiding.
He surrendered without incident after K9 Deputy Eliza Hernandez announced that her partner, K9 “Canelo,” would be deployed.
White was booked into Madera County Jail.
“We earn the community’s trust by doing the job right, every time. No shortcuts. No politics. Just service,” Sheriff Tyson Pogue said.
