Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a small wildfire that broke out Monday morning near Trimmer Springs Road, north of Avocado Lake in Fresno County, officials said.

Dubbed the Fish Fire, the blaze had burned 15 acres of grassland by Monday morning and was 50% contained, according to CalFire.

Crews remain on scene to mop up hot spots and strengthen containment lines.

The fire began early Monday and prompted a response that included six engines, a water tender, a bulldozer, two hand crews, and multiple aircraft conducting suppression missions as weather conditions allowed. About 50 personnel were assigned to the fire.

No injuries or damaged structures have been reported.

The cause remains under investigation.
