A fast-moving wildfire in San Luis Obispo County has scorched more than 3,308 acres near Highway 166 and the community of New Cuyama and it is completely uncontained, CalFire confirmed to GV Wire on Wednesday afternoon.

The Madre Fire was first reported at 1:07 p.m. on Wednesday and is burning within the Los Padres National Forest, according to CalFire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Officials had not issued evacuation orders as of Wednesday afternoon but are urging residents in the area to stay alert as fire conditions evolve.
