Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino will soon have a Top Golf simulator, and to celebrate the opening, the Madera County gaming hub will bring in two sports greats.

On Wednesday, June 25, the public will have it first chance to tee off on the golf simulator at Chukchansi. In attendance: famed MLB slugger Jose Canseco and hockey great Jonathan Cheechoo.

“Bringing bold, new experiences to our guests is what we do best, and the Topgolf Swing Suite is one of our most exciting additions yet,” said Deann Kamalani, director of marketing at Chukchansi. “It’s a completely new kind of experience for our resort, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to kick it off with two iconic athletes. Whether you’re swinging for the leaderboard or just stopping by for fun, this space is all about energy, connection and unforgettable moments.”

Pebble Beach, St. Andrews Just a Trip Up the Hill

Top Golf at Chukchansi will offer two simulators in a indoor setting, where players can play legendary courses such as Pebble Beach or St. Andrews. They can also play target-style games. These include PGA Tour Golden Tee Live, football, baseball, hockey, and zombie dodgeball.

The two rooms can accommodate eight players each. Reservations are needed to play.

Top Golf also will have a lounge for players to relax and enjoy beverages. The golf suite is adjacent to the Picayune Tower lobby. Players need to be at least 21 years old.

Canseco, Cheechoo Famous in Their Sports

Homerun hitter Canseco’s storied career spanned nearly two decades. The outfielder hit more than 450 home runs and earned a World Series ring when the Oakland A’s won the championship in 1989.

While Canseco made it to the Oakland Hall of Fame, steroid controversy largely kept him out of consideration for induction into Cooperstown. He is still considered one of baseball’s batting greats.

A member of the Moose Cree First Nations Tribe, Cheechoo holds several records with San Jose Sharks. In his six seasons with the team, including a stellar 2005-06 campaign, he set a franchise record for goals in a season (56) and hat tricks in a season (5). He also holds the Sharks record for most career hat tricks (9).

After his professional career ended, Cheechoo took to helping indigenous children on the ice, hosting hockey camps in Moose Factory, Ontario, according to MyKaphearstNow.com.

He entered the Indigenous Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

Both former players will sign autographs.
