A Torrance man has been charged with felony possession of child pornography and other crimes after hidden cameras were discovered inside a bathroom and changing room at a children’s dance studio where he worked, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Jourdyn Godoy, 24, was charged Tuesday with one felony count of possessing child pornography, along with misdemeanor counts of child annoyance and invasion of privacy.
His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles. Prosecutors have requested bail be set at $55,000.
Godoy worked as a front desk receptionist at the Hermosa Beach dance studio. On May 3, a parent discovered a hidden camera in the changing room, prompting a police investigation.
Officers later found additional recording devices in both the changing room and bathroom. A search of Godoy’s residence uncovered further potential evidence, authorities said.
“To invade a child’s privacy in a place where they should feel completely safe is a grotesque violation of trust, safety, and basic human decency,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement.
If convicted, Godoy faces up to four years in state prison.
