A wildfire that broke out near Morgan Canyon Road and Country Oak Lane in Prather on Sunday has burned 17 acres and is 85% contained, officials with CalFire reported Tuesday morning.

Dubbed the Oak Fire, the blaze remains active but has not resulted in any reported injuries or damage to structures. The cause is under investigation.

Crews are now focused on mopping up hot spots and strengthening containment lines. Firefighters are also beginning the process of removing hose and debris from the area.

Two engines and six personnel remain assigned to the fire. No helicopters, water tenders, dozers or hand crews are currently in use.

Air tankers from across the state have been flying suppression missions as weather and fire conditions allow.
