Update on Friday at 10:50 a.m.

The Visalia Fire Department reported at 9:26 a.m. that the fire has been contained and two houses sustained damage. Two individuals were also transported for medical attention, one being someone who was injured while assisting a neighbor.

The other was due to unrelated health complications. Officials said neither injury is linked to the fire itself.

Emergency crews are still at the scene and roads are still closed, officials reported.

Original Story

A house fire Friday morning in Visalia prompted evacuations and multiple road closures, police said.

The Visalia Fire Department and Visalia Police Department responded to the fire at 8:02 a.m. in the 1900 block of South West Street.

Emergency crews evacuated the surrounding area, and several nearby roads were closed, including Conyer Street and Walnut Avenue. Authorities said the situation remains active, and crews are still on scene.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area while emergency personnel respond.
