Fresno’s “temporary” Fire Station 12 at Marks and Acacia avenues will be replaced by a state-of-the-art facility at 3315 W. Ashlan Ave., city officials said Wednesday at a groundbreaking.
Firefighters have worked out of the so-called temporary quarters since 1977 as tight budgets and other City Hall priorities blocked the construction of a new firehouse in the region.
With this new $14.3 million facility, the city will be positioned to reduce emergency response times and improve the safety and well-being of residents, officials said.
The new fire station station is expected to be finished by July 2026.
