Fresno police have arrested a man suspected in a shooting earlier this month in southwest Fresno, authorities said Friday.

Andy Ramos was taken into custody Thursday after Felony Assault Unit detectives spotted him riding a bicycle near Orange and Central avenues, police said.

With help from motor units, Southwest patrol officers, and the SVB Tac Team, Ramos was arrested.

Ramos later confessed to shooting a man near Belmont Avenue and Orchard Street on the evening of May 11, police said.

Officers responded to the area around 7:18 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.

Investigators obtained video surveillance footage from the scene, which was posted to the department’s social media pages.

A tip submitted through Valley Crime Stoppers helped detectives identify Ramos as the suspect, leading to an arrest warrant.

Ramos was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
