A 20-year-old Raisin City man was killed early Thursday morning in a head-on collision north of Huntsman Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Gabriel Vasquez, 20.

He was traveling southbound on South Hayes Avenue in a GMC Terrain when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck a Toyota Camry around 5:10 a.m, CHP said.

Vasquez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

The Camry was occupied by two 21-year-old men, both from Fresno. Both sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

While drugs or alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash, investigators say Vasquez may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision.
