A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and multiple gun-related charges following a traffic stop in downtown Fresno, police said on Monday.

Officers pulled over a vehicle near Inyo and O streets for a traffic violation, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officers said the driver showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for DUI.

During an inventory of the vehicle before it was towed, officers found a loaded handgun in the center console next to the driver, police said.

The man was booked into the Fresno County Jail on DUI and weapons charges.

His identity was not immediately released.
