A Visalia man previously arrested on child exploitation charges was taken into custody again Thursday after police received a tip from a national child protection group.

Visalia Police Department Youth Services detectives launched an investigation in February following a report from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The tip led investigators to identify Wilmer Gilberto Porras, 30, as the suspect, police said.

On Thursday, detectives, along with investigators from the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office and their detection dog, Tor, served a search warrant at a home in the 1500 block of North Cotta Street, according to authorities.

Porras, who was previously arrested in a separate child sexual abuse material case, was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility on new charges of possessing child sex abuse material, police said.
