A man was arrested on April 10, in connection with a shooting that left a Fresno apartment riddled with bullets, authorities said.

Officers responded around 8:56 p.m. on April 9 to reports of gunfire near Cedar and Santa Ana avenues, where they found the front of an apartment had been struck multiple times, the Fresno Police Department said.

Two shell casings were located near the walkway. Two people inside the apartment were not injured.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an earlier dispute between two longtime friends.

On April 10, officers served a search warrant near Swift and Seventh avenues and arrested John Castillo.

Investigators said Castillo is a convicted felon and was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, and being a felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition.

The firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered, police said.
