A driver was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a firearm and driving recklessly near Olive and Blackstone avenues, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a reckless driver displaying a firearm and located the suspect’s vehicle in a parking lot as the driver attempted to park, the Fresno Police Department said in a Thursday statement.

Police approached the car, found a handgun between the seats, and detained the two occupants.

The driver, who had been drinking, was subjected to a DUI investigation. Officers later determined he had a suspended license and a prior felony conviction, making him a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

A search revealed the driver was also carrying a loaded magazine with 12 rounds of ammunition.

He was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
